15 Awesome Tips to Stay Motivated
One of the biggest struggles I often face is staying motivated. However, having discovered and practiced these tips, I have realized that I am more than capable to pursue my plans with an optimistic mind-set and accomplish my goals. Here are 15 Awesome Tips that I have found to keep me motivated.
Set clear goals
Through much disappointment and incomplete task my friends over at faith_in_fear_out taught me that setting clear goals and having a path to accomplishing those goals were absolutely necessary.
Don’t be afraid to fail and make mistakes
Anyone that has achieved success, has experienced failure at some point in their life. Failing should never stop you from pursuing your goals, but failure is to be learnt from, it will make you wiser and stronger. Failure as been seen from the likes of Oprah Winfrey, J.K Rowling, and Michael Jordan – let us not forget how he famously said:
“I have missed more than 9,000 shots in my career. I have lost almost 300 games. On 26 occasions I have been entrusted to take the game winning shot, and I missed. I have failed over and over and over again in my life. And that is why I succeed.”
Look for a solution
When you hit a road block, I have realized that it’s important to always keep moving forward. If it means to go back to the drawing board and revamp your approach do it but, don’t lose that momentum.
Fail and make some more mistakes
Marketing Expert Seth Godin said it best, “The more you fail, the more you win”. Never give up hope or lose faith, trust God for that one opportunity might present itself after that failure. Trust me; you are still winning if you don’t give up.
Identify your reason
This might be your single most important reason as to why you’ll continue to push hard even at that road block. Is it to give your children a better future, leaving a legacy behind for them to inherit. Identify that reason and let it push you.
It may be hard now but what you do right now, could set you up and others around you for life. Learn to be patient, the gains will come.
Visualize the reward
Don’t lose hope, imagining the reward at the end of the road will bound to give you that extra boost you’ll need to keep grinding.
Keep positive people around you
Negative people and pessimistic words are toxic. The last thing you need is someone telling you that “it can’t be done”. Find persons who will influence a positive mind.
Find like-minded people
Peer pressure is real. Influence from friends and even mentors can greatly contribute to your progress and will keep you motivated to achieve that set goal.
You must believe
At times many obstacles will come to deter you from the road ahead, but you have to find that inner strength to move foward. You have to believe in yourself when no one else believes in you.
You must have faith in God
“Now faith is the assurance of things hoped for, the conviction of things not seen” (Hebrews 11:1 ESV). Simply put, the biblical definition of faith is “trusting in something you cannot explicitly prove.” To hope for what you are pursuing will be the backbone on your pursuit.
Eat good Food
Healthy eating is important in keeping the body and mind focus. Constantly eating oily, starchy, sugary and heavy food will leave you functioning at a lesser capacity.
Read a self-development book
Some people have spent a life-time sharing their mistakes, their adversities and triumphs through books. Why would you not want to learn from their experiences? They will inspire you. A great book that will challenge you to change your mindset is “How to Win Friends & Influence People”
Practice what you preach
Remember all the people you told about how they should achieve their goals, dreams and aspirations and gave them words of encouragement? Make sure you are no hypocrite in the process. Hold yourself to your own words.
Pray to and trust God
The Lord guides us in the way we should go and protects those who please him (Psalms 37:12). The Lord will keep you in hard and tough times and will direct you on the road ahead.
